भोस् — {bhos} (fr. {bhavas} voc. of {bhavat}, q.v##before vowels and soft consonants {bho}##before hard consonants {bhos} and {bhoḥ}##the latter form also in pause, Pāṇ. 8-3, 17 &c##but there is occasional confusion of these forms, esp. in later literature##often also {bhobhoḥ}.), an interjection or voc. particle commonly used in addressing another person or several persons = O! Ho! Hallo l, in soliloquies = alas! &c. &c. (according to a particle of sorrow and of interrogation)
