युधिष्ठिर — {ṣṭhira} m. (for {-sthira}) 'firm or steady in battle', N. of the eldest of the 5 reputed sons of Pāṇḍu (really the child of Pṛithā or Kuntī, Pāṇḍu's wife, by the god Dharma or Yama, whence he is often called Dharma-putra or Dharma-rāja##he ultimately succeeded Pāṇḍu as king, first reigning over Indra-prastha, and afterwards, when the Kuru princes were defeated, at Hastinā-pura##IW. 379 &c.)##of a son of Kṛishṇa##of two kings of Kaśmīra##of a potter##(with {mahôpâdhyāya}) of a preceptor##pl. the descendants of Yudhi-shṭhira (son of Pāṇḍu) 2-4, 66##{-vijaya} (or {-dig-v}), m.
